A gift beyond what I can explain
I thought I could figure out my own solution, but nothing worked to end the relentless rubbing of every bra, even sports bras, 2 years after a lumpectomy. Yes, it’s “vain”, but I am also more aesthetically bothered by the asymmetry than I thought I would be. I know that I am supposed to say that I am lucky, because they saved my life, yet I have to live with the aftermath of my treatment. My swimsuits gape on one side and the visual difference in size is even more apparent when wearing something form- fitting. It’s hard enough putting on a swimsuit. This crushed my confidence. Plus I kept winding up with a welt where it rubbed me. So I requested an Aqua Knocker. The Lumpectomy Co-ordinator was incredibly generous. The Lumpectomy Wedge Filler is perfect with my halter neck tankini. The Round Aqua Knocker fits and fills the proper swimsuit that I was convinced I would have to get rid of. The stuffing is genius: not only that it’s adjustable, but what it’s made of. My Knitter turned something painful and ugly into something practical and beautiful. She also solved a Yoga problem of having to compensate for being tilted when lying on my front. I inserted the Round Aqua Knocker into a sports bra and Wow! I feel like my spine is level again. I remain truly touched that my Knitter took the time to do this for me. She chose the lovely yarn, knitted two styles for me to try, and then wrapped them with such care. They made me feel better about myself right away. I still well up just thinking about what my Knitter did for me. She made it so that it doesn’t hurt to move, so I am not literally constantly aware that my body is different now. The people of Knitted Knockers have given me a gift beyond what I can explain.
